About us

We didn’t start as business partners, but as friendly competitors, working next to each other in a small workshop under the guidance of a master hat maker. Day after day, we worked with felt, fabric, and steam, and soon realized we shared more than just a trade, we shared the same philosophy. To us, a hat was never simply an accessory, but a symbol of identity, tradition, and pride passed down over time. The long days turned competition into friendship, and from that friendship a shared vision was born: to bring timeless hat-making into the modern world while respecting the traditions that shaped it.

Two Different Backgrounds

Our backgrounds were very different. Wallace grew up in a small town in England, surrounded by the timeless style of tweed flat caps and newsboy hats, which shaped his appreciation for detail and classic design. Henry, on the other hand, was raised in the vast landscapes of the United States, where durability and practicality were just as important as appearance. Influenced by workwear and the outdoor lifestyle, he developed a distinctly American sense of resilience. Together, we represented two different worlds — one rooted in tradition and refinement, the other in strength and practicality — and that balance became our foundation.

Learning from a Master

Our journeys came together during an exclusive mentorship with a renowned hat maker known for preserving traditional techniques and demanding the highest standards. During this time, we learned everything from hand-shaping felt to selecting high-quality materials, discovering that true craftsmanship lives in the smallest details. Every seam, every stitch, and every material choice mattered. Hat-making, to us, became a form of art.

A Story in Every Cap

From that experience, Henry & Wallace Hatters was created. More than just a brand, it became a meeting of two traditions: British elegance and American durability, combined in every cap we produce. Our mission has always remained the same — to respect heritage through traditional techniques, to create quality products made to last, and to celebrate individuality with hats that have character rather than mass production. Every cap tells a story, not only about how it was made, but about the person who wears it.

At Henry & Wallace Hatters, every cap still represents our original vision: to create something timeless, honest, and built to last, just like the idea that started years ago in a small workshop, where two competitors became friends and a shared vision came to life.
